1st Adriatic-Ionian Intercultural Dialogue Conference Corfu, Greece, 27-28 June 2008
Papers and “The Corfu Intercultural Dialogue Declaration” The 1st Adriatic-Ionian Intercultural Dialogue Conference aims at producing and signing a policy document entitled: “The Corfu Intercultural Dialogue Declaration”. This document will reflect the concerns of the conference participants regarding intercultural dialogue in the periphery of Europe and peripheral and will attempt to devise patterns for future action in the region. With a view to shape and enrich its content, the Programme Committee invites researchers, policy makers, university professors, students, school teachers and graduates as well as as cultural organizations, youth associations and groups, foundations and institutions, museums, theatres etc. to submit by 30 April 2008 at the latest: Papers and reflection documents > research and policy contributions/ full papers (maximum 2.500 words) > short reflections to be included in the Declaration (maximum 1.000 words) > theme reports - papers for discussion in workshops The proposed themes for reflection (non exhaustive list) are inspired from the expectations of 2008, European Year of Intercultural Dialogue i.e.: promotion of intercultural dialogue and raise the awareness of European citizens. Papers will be used to shape and enrich the content of the “The Corfu Intercultural Dialogue Declaration”, and will be reviewed by an International Review Board and selected papers will be included in a special publication of the Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. The Programme Committee invites researchers, policy makers, university professors, students, school teachers and graduates as well as as cultural organizations, youth associations and groups, foundations and institutions, museums, theaters etc. to submit (in English language): Contributions are welcome related to intercultural dialogue and the cultural initiatives and actions at European level in areas such as cultural cooperation, cultural industries, access to culture, the culture professionals, cultural facilities, linguistic and cultural diversity, international relations with emphasis in the Adriatic-Ionian and South-Eastern Europe and Mediterranean countries. Procedure and Deadlines (only by email): For papers · Submission of abstracts (max 400 words) by 30 April 2008 · Approval and invitation to submit full paper by 5 May 2008 · Full paper submission by 19 May 2008 · Paper approval by 23 May 2008 · Final paper submission (camera ready copy) by 6 June 2008 &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& Posters Posters in A3 format related to the European Intercultural Dialogue 2008 theme and present projects or field work and good practices accomplished by different cultural and other organisations in Europe. Award: An International Committee will evaluate and select a number of posters to be exhibited in the conference venue and published in a special post-conference publication. The Committee will be select one poster to receive the award of the “1st Adriatic-Ionian intercultural Dialogue Conference Poster”. Deadlines for posters: · Draft poster submission by 30 April 2008 · Paper approval by 15 May 2008 Final poster submission (printed version) by 10 June 2008 NB: Posters selected for exhibition need to be presented / defended by their authors/creators in Corfu.
